Virat Kohli

For multiple IPL seasons, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricket team has employed Virat Kohli, who once held the distinction of being the highest-paid player in IPL history. Kohli’s contract with RCB from 2018 to 2021 saw him earn 17 crores per season.

However, ahead of the IPL 2022 Bidding, Kohli agreed to a reduced salary of 15 crores to continue playing for RCB. His former RCB teammate KL Rahul surpassed Kohli as the IPL’s highest-paid player for 2022 by signing with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for 17 crores.

Ishan Kishan

The talented batsman and wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan was the costliest acquisition of the IPL 2022 Auction, with the Mumbai Indians team shelling out a staggering 15.25 crore to secure his services.

For the upcoming IPL 2023 season, Mumbai Indians have retained Kishan at the same price. The young player will aim to lead the team to their sixth IPL championship next year.

Ravindra Jadeja

Chennai Super Kings retained the outstanding batsman Ravindra Jadeja for a whopping 16 crores. Prior to the IPL 2023 Bidding, there were speculations that CSK might release Jadeja due to a reported rift with the team during IPL 2022. However, the rumors were put to rest when Jadeja chose to continue playing for Chennai despite the disagreements.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant, who leads the Delhi Capitals, is the seventh-highest paid player in IPL 2023, earning more than Virat Kohli. The team renewed Pant’s contract for 16 crores in the same year.

Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran, the wicketkeeper-batsman, secured a massive contract worth Rs 16 crore from the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL auction, making him the most expensive West Indian player ever sold in the league. Pooran previously played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and amassed 306 runs in 14 matches during the last season, which included two half-centuries.

Ben Stokes

Chennai Super Kings made a significant investment of Rs 16.25 crore to secure the services of Ben Stokes, making him the third most expensive signing of the IPL auction. The English all-rounder has played 43 matches in the league, with a batting average and strike rate of 25.56 and 134.50 respectively.

KL Rahul

As previously announced, KL Rahul is one of the top-paid players in the 2023 IPL and was acquired by LSG for a whopping 17 crores in the previous season.

After an impressive debut campaign as captain, Lucknow franchise retained Rahul for the same price. Rahul was a much sought-after player before the super auction due to his outstanding performance in the previous four seasons for the Punjab Kings, scoring more than 590 runs.

Cameron Green

Cameron Green has been signed by Mumbai Indians for a whopping Rs 17.5 crore. The Australian all-rounder displayed an impressive performance in the T20I series held in India last year, scoring 118 runs with two half-centuries and a strike rate of 214.54.

Sam Curran

In the IPL auction of 2023, Punjab Kings made history by acquiring Sam Curran, the all-rounder from England, for a record-breaking Rs 18.25 crore, making him the highest-paid player in IPL auction history.

Curran earned the player of the match award for his remarkable performance of 3-12 during England’s victory over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. Unfortunately, he missed out on the IPL in 2022 due to medical issues. However, he received a salary of 5.5 crores during IPL 2021.
